Session powered by World Cargo Tuesday 2nd November - 14:00-15:00 GMT
This session will explore how far the terminal operating System (TOS) market has progressed with Cloud computing. A cloud-based TOS offers the potential for terminals to reduce the cost of IT infrastructure to support the TOS, as well as reducing the amount of resources needed for ongoing upgrades and management.
However, the TOS is typically part of an integrated web of applications, and moving that wider ecosphere to the Cloud can be more difficult. Furthermore, there are some concerns around the software as a services business model and whether it will mean terminals facing an increase in the cost of core applications currently delivered as a single licensed TOS application.
Session Powered By:
What is happening in the market today with TOS applications hosted on the Cloud – is it becoming more common?
Commercial models: What are the differences in the licensing structure and costs for software hosted on the cloud?
Integrated applications – what happens when there are other applications that exchange data with the TOS? Can they stay on the terminal?
