With the exception of the Editorial Choice Awards, each category within the Seatrade Maritime Awards is judged by one of our independent panels of judges. These panels are made up of industry experts, analysts, and senior leaders, each with relevant expertise in the field of which they are judging.
There are two parts to the judging process:
Round One
All submissions are initially scored using a pre-determined framework by each judge, which is based on category-specific criteria and a 1 – 10 point scale per entry. The scoring is done in confidence and without comparison to other nominations within that category. After each entry has been scored, an average score is found which acts as a benchmark for the shortlist.
Final Round
Each finalist will then be reviewed individually and considered in strength against the other finalists within that category, prior to the final judging, which is done as an in-person meeting where possible.
This meeting enables each panel to discuss category shortlists in great detail, at which point each individual judge will then have the option to change or keep their original score for each nomination. The eventual winner will be the finalist with the highest score within their category.
