Universal Avionics announced the launch of two new applications that enable two-way interactions between flight management systems (FMS) and the company’s cloud-based infrastructure for data analytics.
The two applications—FlightPartner and FlightReview—will be hosted on an iPad and initially connected via Wi-Fi to Universal’s WAAS/SBAS1-enabled FMS. The applications will be available at the end of the first quarter of 2022, and “represent the first step” in Universal’s goal of creating a “connectivity-enabled ecosystem across its avionics systems,” the company said.
The two applications will streamline and enhance the interactions between flight operations teams and the FMS before, during and after flight. The programs will enable operators to optimize their flight operations and aircraft availability by supplying relevant analytics of each flight.
“FlightPartner and FlightReview mark the early steps in a push toward the creation of a dynamic Connectivity Ecosystem, tying our various avionics systems to a suite of applications and expanded services that our customers will be able to use 24/7/365”, Universal Avionics CEO Dror Yahav said in a statement. “After the initial deployment of the products, we plan to introduce many others in the coming months and years.”
