Aircraft manufacturer Embraer has expanded its component pooling program with LOT Polish Airlines by adding seven additional aircraft to the renewed agreement.
Announced July 18 at the Farnborough International Airshow, the contract takes the number of Embraer-manufactured LOT aircraft covered under the parts program to 44. The Brazilian OEM says it will take the total number of parts covered to more than 300.
LOT’s Embraer E-Jet fleet is comprised of 21 E170 and E175 aircraft and up to 23 E190 and E195 aircraft. LOT is the second largest operator of E-Jets in Europe after Dutch airline KLM. Aviation Week’s Fleet & MRO Forecast predicts a maintenance, repair and overhaul spend of $29 billion for these aircraft types from 2022-31.
The Warsaw-headquartered carrier was the launch customer for the E170 and first signed up to Embraer’s aftermarket pooling program in 2012. Typically, these agreements include full repair coverage from Embraer’s network and access to parts.
“The pool program has been paramount to increasing LOT’s fleet availability, guaranteeing efficiency and competitive results, allowing LOT to focus on day-to-day aircraft operations,” says Maciej Wilk, Chief Operating Officer of LOT Polish Airlines, about the agreement. “This extension and the inclusion of additional aircraft is a part of LOT’s fleet growth strategy.”
In addition to the Embraer aircraft, LOT also operates Boeing 737 and 787 aircraft in its fleet along with De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 turboprops.
